At 1:10 p.m. Oct. 12 a bank employee reported someone attempted a fraudulent withdrawal. Two women in an SUV came to the drive through and attempted to withdraw $450 with a stolen credit card and identification. The staff had been alerted that the two women had made a similar attempt at a branch in Westlake. The women left without any money, but bank staff kept the stolen Ohio license, credit card, and check that they attempted to cash. Detectives are investigating.

Fraud, Wooster Road

At 1:45 p.m. Oct. 12 a couple reported that they were defrauded of about $9,500 after a caller claimed that their grandson needed cash bond after being arrested following a car accident. The victim went to the bank, withdrew the money, and turned it over to a person that came to their home to pick it up. Later, when the victims called their grandson, they learned they were scammed. Detectives are investigating.

Theft, Center Ridge Road

At 3 p.m. Oct. 13 an officer was flagged down by Giant Eagle staff who reported that a woman inside was attempting to steal items. When the woman left the store, officers stopped her and discovered a bag full of stolen merchandise valued at just over $300. The 46-year-old Lakewood woman, who was also wanted by a neighboring agency, was arrested for theft.

Theft, Center Ridge Road

At 1:50 p.m. Oct. 14 Home Depot employees reported the theft of $1,187 in merchandise. The subject was confronted as he left the store, dropped the merchandise, and left in an older black pick-up truck. The staff recognized the man from similar thefts at other Home Depot locations. Detectives are investigating.
