Election 2023 live updates: Kentucky governor, Virginia legislature, Ohio abortion rights on the ballot

Ohio voters said “yes” to enshrining the right to an abortion in the state constitution, the Associated Press projected. The ballot measure would establish in the state constitution an “individual right to one’s own reproductive medical treatment, including but not limited to abortion.” A ballot measure to legalize marijuana for recreational use is also projected to pass in Ohio. Abortion rights were at the heart of Gov. Andy Beshear’s (D) campaign for reelection in deeply red Kentucky, where he is projected to win handily, according to the AP, after he championed access to abortion in the state. Polls are also closed in Virginia with every seat in the General Assembly on the ballot, and those races could determine whether Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) can further advance his political agenda. In Mississippi, Gov. Tate Reeves (R) is seeking reelection against a second cousin of Elvis Presley.
