Spotlight Theatre’s production of “The Laramie Project: Ten Years later” at Swarthmore United Methodist Church, 129 Park Ave., Swarthmore runs through Nov. 19.

As a follow-up to last season’s “The Laramie Project,” “The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later” tells the true story of Matthew Shepard, who in October of 1998 was savagely beaten and left to die in Laramie, Wyoming.

This bold new work asks, “How does society write its own history?” It focuses on hate crimes and how communities deal with such tragedies as a community, and individually, and how that affects society as a whole.

Director Chas Thomas has cast a group of stellar storytellers from the community to perform this dedicated piece.

It is recommended for mature audiences.

The shows re Nov. 11, 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 12 and 19 at 2 p.m.

High school students with ID and those age 65 and older are $15, and everyone else is $18.

Purchase tickets in advance from Ticket Leap (fees apply). Online ticket sales end 30 minutes before each performance. Also, get tickets at spotlighttheatrepa.org.
