A woman involved in a Sacramento police chase died Saturday morning after she was hit by multiple vehicles on the freeway, officials said.Officers with the Sacramento Police Department were chasing a vehicle around 3:50 a.m., but they lost visual on Business 80 at Marysville Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle then crashed at the Marysville onramp on eastbound lanes.An unknown number of people got out of the vehicle and ran away, CHP said. One of the people was then hit by multiple vehicles.CHP said it is not known how many vehicles hit her, but authorities believe the first one that hit her was a large vehicle. Two of the vehicles that hit her body stopped and stayed at the scene.The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the person as 19-year-old Fatiina Chaney.Sacramento police said officers were chasing the vehicle because of a code violation. When asked if there was anything illegal or incriminating that would make the vehicle flee from officers, police said investigators are still collecting evidence.The crash caused temporary road closures.
